FIFV

Casa Espacio Buenos Aires 824 is a cultural organization dedicated to contemporary photography created in 2013 located in the Valparaíso plan. The project is designed as a place for dialogue, reflection, dissemination, and production of photography at a local, national, and international level. It is an inclusive space open to the entire community that has a library of more than 2,000 photobooks.

The initiative is also the headquarters of the FIFV organization – the Valparaíso International Photography Festival that takes place every year and invites photographers, authors, collectives, and galleries to think about the world from the city of Valparaíso.

FACILITIES

Casa Espacio is located in a heritage conservation area in Valparaíso, therefore, its infrastructure has characteristic features of the old houses of the city, high ceilings, wooden floors and long stairs since it is located on the 3rd floor.

It has everything necessary to make the residents’ stay as comfortable and welcoming as possible, it has an equipped kitchen and a large table to share, a bathroom with shower and hot water, access to Wi-Fi, sheets and towels in two rooms, each one with a double bed.

In addition, they will find a library with more than 2,000 photography books, a common workspace, a projector, a projection screen and a professional printer.

RESIDENCE

The residence program is open to national and international artists without restrictions of age, religion, gender or professional level. Although the program is only open by invitation, selected artists will have the option of conducting self-directed research, production or exhibition programs, and organizing a workshop program for the local photographic community, or even doing a special residency whose results would be exhibited at various annual instances of our organization.

RESIDENCES MODALITIES

– Creation residence: Personal creation project of the artist, tempting the city of Valparaiso as a research territory.

– Creation residence: Project of the artist’s personal creation, tending Chile as a research territory and its process is articulated with other institutions in this network.

– Knowledge transfer residence: Creation residence under the curatorial line of our space and where direct links are established with our community and our work processes.
